Yearning for the Movie Theater Experience
I might be nostalgic about going to the movies. That was one of the bonding activities I did with family and friends throughout my life. I only went once within the past few years. I just haven’t been able to bring myself to go since. There hasn’t been anything that I have wanted to buy a ticket for.
I’m very aware of the releases of The Odyssey and Spider-Man: Brand New Day. And I’m hesitant about seeing both. I was not the target audience for Oppenheimer, and the MCU has been inconsistent for me these days. While the positive reviews are encouraging, I’d rather form opinions on my own.
Then why go to the theater? I guess the thought of being in a room with fellow cinema lovers excites me. As long as they are respectful and polite. I could be unashamedly (but quietly) excited over Spidey on the big screen again. After years of waiting.
You’d think I would feel nervous in a cinema setting. Well, if what I’m watching keeps me immersed then it doesn’t matter as much. Not having to worry about avoiding spoilers sooner makes it worth while anyway. I don’t eat the snacks, too expensive.
Maybe I’m glamorizing the thought of treating myself to a new movie after a long month. I don’t know, I think I have earned it. I’ll make a decision on what to do within the next week.
