Why I’m Doing Blaugust
I don’t know what to write about today, so I figured I would answer a week 1 Blaugust prompt question. I can’t answer all of them since I haven’t been blogging for a year yet.
- What made you decide to do Blaugust this year, and what are your personal goals?
I thought it would be a fun writing exercise to do daily posting. I wasn’t very productive in Artfight, so I’m searching for other activities now that it’s over. I joined almost as soon as I found out about the event from some other people. I didn’t give myself the chance to overthink anything, I just went for it. Will I regret this decision? I hope not.
I’m trying to say yes to more opportunities. What I do doesn’t always have to be related to drawing either. Some of the best advice I’ve seen for artists is the value in making time for other hobbies. It’s not recommended to only focus on art projects. I’ll still be practicing obviously, my current sketchbook needs some attention again.
So there are 5 weeks with different prompts. I’ll try to answer as many as possible. I’m taking this a day at a time. Write about what’s on my mind, very low pressure. I’m learning how to be less precious with my blog. I don’t want to develop perfectionist tendencies and only write after big events.
There’s a difference between being private and hiding away from the world. I want to develop healthy boundaries with blogging. I don’t want to come across as someone I’m not. I’m just another person living a very quiet lifestyle. Nothing too interesting.. and that’s okay.
Now there are aspects of my life I’ll always keep private, but I don’t want to shut myself out. This is supposed to be a safe space for me to have as an outlet. I want to use my voice somewhere.
