Spider-Man: Brand New Day Short Review
I went to see Brand New Day at the cinema. I know I’m late, or does it not matter? I’ve been watching Spider-Man in the cinema since the Andrew Garfield movies. I’ll always show up for this character. I’ve grown to really love Tom Holland’s Peter… or any role he plays.
He’s such a talented actor, I’m glad more people are talking about him this summer. Watching Tom on the big screen again after 4 years felt a little surreal. Uncharted (2022) was the last film I watched in theaters before I moved. So I had to act casual since my dad was right next to me.
Anyway, I could somewhat relate to Peter’s conflict. My heart hurt for him. He deserves the world and so much more. I know, I know, he has to be the miserable character. It can’t be all sunshine and rainbows.
I saw my younger self in him, if that makes any sense. I remember having a tough time navigating negative emotions in my early 20s. Negativity and stress would consume me. Then I tried carrying the weight of everything on my own. Since then I’ve been working to change that. I don’t want to be alone anymore.
Spidey’s quips were the best they’ve been in the MCU. The Home trilogy will always have a place in my heart but let have my opinion, please. He was so silly I couldn’t get enough. That’s my little guy!!
The action sequences were the usual comic book film fun. I appreciated how much the fights progressed the plot in an organic way. To me, the pacing flowed fairly smoothly. Though there are a few things I didn’t care for.
Some of my critiques on the film are big spoilers, so I’ll keep this entry as a positive one. Overall, Brand New Day was what I needed after No Way Home. Welcome back Spider-Man! ♡
