Letter To My Past Self
Dear past R,
It’s okay to take your time in getting started on a bigger task. Life is a marathon, not a sprint. Ignore the “late bloomer” term, please. Accomplishing a goal is worth celebrating, even if it might take longer for you to put yourself out there. It’s okay, it’s okay, you’re doing your best.
Situational anxiety is not something to be brushed off. Your fears, thoughts, it all matters. You deserve to be heard and respected. You deserve to receive help. I’m sorry people have made you feel insignificant so often. You didn’t deserve any of this terrible treatment. Release all of that built up frustration and pain now. Don’t keep it in. I promise it gets better. One day you’ll understand your personal values, that will help you figure out where you want to be.
Speak your mind when you have to. If someone is trying to talk over you, stand up for yourself. You have your own voice. You might not believe it, but you do. Just like any other human being. Honesty is one of your greatest strengths.
You shouldn’t feel ashamed of crying. It will help you process many heavy emotions that you aren’t able to verbalize. When you think everything is falling apart, you’ll have to make big changes.. then set boundaries. It’s nowhere near the end of your story.
Finally, remain kind and bubbly. Don’t let this cruel world make you turn cold. Distancing yourself will only hurt your heart much more. You will find community, you will explore new places, you will have chances to learn what you want out of life. Whatever you do, don’t give up.
Sincerely, future R ♡
